This entry is actually a blog from a good friend, Molly Hichens. I think she makes some very valid points and says it all. You rock Molly!!!
get ready cause i'm mad.
so i was in AZ for a wedding when i saw part of the network telethon to raise money for hurricane katrina. mike meyers and kanye west were on together. after mike read what was on the prompter, kanye ignored what was on the prompter for him and said, "George Bush doesn't care about black people" and that America is "set up to help the poor, the black people, the less well off as slow as possible."
that is the sickest and most inappropriate comment i think i have ever seen on tv in my life. you wanna know who really hates black people? the people who hate black people, and minorites in general, are the people who set up programs and give them money (democrates). when you give money, childcare, foodstamps, cheap housing, and so on to people, that is just like saying "since there is NO WAY YOU COULD EVER GET THIS STUFF ON YOUR OWN BECAUSE YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO MAKE ANYTHING OF YOURSELF, we'll give it to you. i hate 99f the gov programs out there for poor people because it doesn't help anything. think about it; if these programs actually worked, don't yout think there wouldn't be poor people around anymore? if gov programs are actually a good solution for poverty, then there shouldn't be poverty because it should have already been fixed! gov programs give them a crutch or an excuse to stay as they are because why work any harder when you don't have to? seriously, if i got welfare, foodstamps, free meals altogether, and free or cheap houseing, i wouldn't have any incentive to make anything else of myself. it is pretty simple. when you give people sutff, they stop working for it and stop trying to make a better life for themself ON THEIR OWN. all those programs out there that were set up by the democrats were made to keep the poor people exactly where they are. if you wonder why that is, i'll tell you. as long as there are poor people, the democrats will have voters. the libs wave money and other stuff in front of poor people in exchange for votes during election time. simple concept.
other people who hate black people and minorites are the people who make role models out of diddy, snoop dog, j lo, kobe bryant, michael johnson (the obnoxious runner) and the reverand jesse jackson just to name a few (ie the media and you). as long as minorities have role models like those people, crime and bad behavior and bad choices will follow. any kid who looks up to or likes these people are in trouble. all you get from these people are examples of violence, bad language, pride, superiority, the fact they don't treat women well or act like respectable women, and poor marriages or relationships. the media and young people are mainly to blame for this. as long as the media talks about how WONDERFUL minority rappers or athletes are, those cultures will suffer. even covering their bad behavior promotes them. diddy is probably the worst and best example of this concept. he hasn't done anything admirable. his pride and self-centeredness alone are enough to make me barf. i hte that he gets so much attention and for what? all he is is a poor example of how people should act. the fact that he is used as an example of a successful person and role model disgusts me. just because he has money doesn't mean we should look up to him. the same goes to for the other people i listed. once minorities start looking up to and admiring people who actually are GOOD people, things will get better.
one of the sickest parts of this whole thing is the the producer of the telethon just let kanye go on and on! if a conservative person went on tv and said even a part of what i just typed, the screen would go blank and the media would crucify them and say how "racist" or "judgemental" they are and so on, even though they aren't and i'm not. the fact he was allowed to say what he said says a lot about the quality and priorities of the media.
by the way, what exactly had kanye ever done that was so great? do you honestly think he gives his money away to people that 'need' it? going on tv and making that statement didn't actually help anything. i hate people that just make statement here and there but don't actually DO anything. what a poor example of a person.
and by the way, where was bono and U2? don't they always do a concert when money needs to be raised for something? oh i get it, he'll (they) help any country but america. they really have no class at all. since they aren't willing to help, they must hate black people too.

If you believe that Republicans can solve the poverty issue - then why after Bush being in office for 2 terms has poverty risen? According to the US Census the number of Americans in poverty rose to 37 million in 2004, up 1.1 million from 2003 and the fourth straight increase in the government's annual poverty measure. Household income remained flat, and the number of people without health insurance edged up by about 800,000, to 45.8 million. (LINK) Poverty continues to rise and average income, after adjusting for inflation, remains stagnant.
Blame it on welfare, right?
The rich are the ones who have the monetary and other assets to partake of all that one needs to "propel" oneself upward: education, exercise, and a healthy diet while using their money to make more money while the poor and disenfranchised, have continually been downsized, excluded and basically told "so what." The poor purchase the goods produced by companies owned by the rich; the poor clean the homes of the rich; they serve them food in fancy restaurants, care for their children, and so on while being paid less for their efforts. The rich need the poor. The rich need a bifurcated social system in order to reassure themselves of their privilege. No doubt many of the wealthy work very hard and feel they deserve the rewards they receive. Maybe they do. But do they deserve them at the cost paid by the people who make their wealth possible?
Funny, but it looks like you have something in common with the less privileged:
You do not look like you are doing so well on your own.
Maybe once you once you "start looking up to and admiring people who actually are GOOD people, things will get better."

What your friend Molly also did not say....
How much has George Bush given of his BILLIONS to people while still enforcing his tax cut for the rich? Bush keeps asking the American population to donate money yet we do not hear about how much he is giving.... funny, I thought he cared about black people. His priorities are still for the rich - who voted for him based on this tax cut. I would think the original poster "who rocks" according to you would be more sympathetic to the underprivileged since she seems to have a low IQ and bad grammar - but I am sure she will blame that on the Democrats as well. Her background and lack of education taught her no class and compassion and keeps her ignorant with over generalizations like
